Leaving Time is Jodi Picoult’s latest release which debuted as the number one New York Times Bestseller.
Leaving Time is centred around the story of 13 year-old Jenna Metcalf searching for her mother who disappeared when she was 3 years old. Jenna enlists the help of the washed up psychic Serenity Jones and the former Detective and full time alcoholic Virgil to help track down her mother as soon as is humanly possible. As is the norm with Jodi Picoult’s novels, the story is told from the perspectives of Jenna, Virgil and Serenity, with flashbacks from Alice (Jenna’s Mum) telling you about the life she had before Jenna was born.
For already established fans of Jodi Picoult, this book will not fail to disappoint. Although it is not her best work, it is still an excellent read. For not-yet-established readers of Jodi Picoult, this is a great novel to make you fall in love with Jodi’s magical writing style. Worst comes to worst, even if you don’t enjoy the book, I guarantee you will put the book down having learned a lot about elephants!
